What happens when a quality tableware brand and a renowned Lebanese artist collaborate? The result is this jaw dropping capsule collection “Mona Trad” for Zarina.
Known for her fascination with the “Village Woman”, Mona’s paintings take a lighthearted approach to capturing their daily lives in an almost voyeuristic and intimate manner. Her female subjects are curvy, proud and witty. Choosing our favorite paintings among her vast collection was not an easy task. Ultimately, we selected the ones that had a common theme: strong, proud women and happy images of nature.
“Baigneuses” or The Swimmers
“Baigneuses, 2006”, shows the backside and proud profile of two voluptuous woman nonchalantly bathing, half-nude. The shared coffee “rakwe” sitting between them reveals a bit of their oriental identity as they breathe in the happiness that surrounds them. Trad’s trademark blue sky frames out the background.
Below, we show this work adapted onto Dessert plates, Espresso cups and Chaffe Cups.

Bringing the best of both worlds to you!
Recognizing the desire for both prints of the same series, we mixed the Espresso and Chaffe boxes to include three cups featuring “Une Femme Libanaise” and three cups featuring “Les Saveurs de l’Orient”. The dessert plate for this series is available only as “Une Femme Libanaise”.

Two Painting Prints in one Box!
“La Cueillette des Haricots”
“La Cueillette des Haricots”- 1995 Vibrantly depicts two strong female laborers reaping the bounties of the earth. In this bright and optimistic work of art, Trad shows the importance of women in the work cycle as well as highlights the important role of agriculture in our communities.

The dessert plates of this series come as three plates of each of the designs featured here, a total of six plates per box.

Be it work hard or playing hard, we love the way this collection depicts the many important roles of women in a happy and vibrant tone. Let’s raise a cup to toast the strong Oriental Women of the world, we salute you!
“Pieces of Time” & “Paradis Perdu”
Set amongst the backdrop of the well-known Lebanese tilework that represents our heritage and lost paradise, the cheerful yellow bird of this collection springs to life. The bird, a symbol of freedom, holds the blue eye pendant, a lucky charm. Long known for its symbolism of warding off the vibes of jealous onlookers, the “eye pendant” is normally overt and flashy. In this happy rendition, the eye protection comes across in a subtle and elegant manner. We hope this collection will bring a smile to your lips!
